Special vehicle construction: vehicle conversion for every application

Norrenbrock Technik develops, plans and builds special vehicles for a wide variety of end customers and areas of application. Our customers include the military - in particular the German Armed Forces - the police, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief and various other emergency services as well as authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS).

By working closely with our customers, we are able to equip your special vehicles to meet almost any challenge. Special vehicles from Norrenbrock Technik combine functionality with mobility.

Special vehicles for the military

Difficult installations and conversions of components in vehicles are the be-all and end-all in special vehicle construction. We use your plans and requirements to create a complete system tailored to you as a customer that is capable of mastering all challenges in its new area of application. To this end, we work with parts from more than half a dozen different categories, from generators and other energy suppliers through special signaling systems to interior fittings and bodywork, for example as ballistic protection. We are helped in this by the use of state-of-the-art CAD (computer-aided design) technology, which allows us to meticulously plan and check the functionality of every work step while still in the virtual world.

Electrification in special vehicle construction

From police and fire department command vehicles to command vehicles, securing and generating energy plays a major role in operations. It is Norrenbrock Technik's aim to always be at the forefront of new developments, which is why we take this challenge very seriously. A particular focus is on electrification and methods for self-sufficient energy supply, which can generate electrical energy even in large quantities and thus help your special vehicles to remain more independent, longer and better in operation.

We are also following the development of electromobility with keen interest. If you have your eye on special vehicles with electric motors or other alternative drive systems, we are also there for you in this area and strive to find the best possible solution for your individual requirements.

Modifications for command vehicles and rescue vehicles

Norrenbrock Technik undertakes installations and conversions for the public sector, including for BOS authority vehicles such as command vehicles (ELW). One of our particular strengths here is the integration of lighting technology, special signaling systems and broadcasting solutions for radio and communication technology. Flexibly equipped interiors in modular design enable the construction of versatile command vehicles that can also serve as mobile workstations. Minibuses or vans, the typical basic models for conversion into command vehicles, make this variability possible.

Rescue vehicles, such as patient transport vehicles (KTW) or ambulances (RTW), also often use vans as a base. In this case, a so-called box body is used, which is mounted on the chassis of the vehicle. This contains the special medical equipment that is usually specified according to DIN standards. As the box body is independent of the vehicle, it can be replaced after a certain period of use or in the event of wear and tear without the need to manufacture a new box body. In order to reduce the load on the vehicle, the box body can also be designed using lightweight construction methods.

Command vehicles as special vehicles

The construction of command vehicles (KdoW) also falls under the collective term of special vehicle construction. The size and weight of command vehicles are standardized in accordance with DIN 14507-5. A command vehicle is typically equipped with a large number of accessories specifically for later areas of operation, for example with radios, hand-held spotlights, signaling trowels or breathing apparatus.

Command vehicles are often based on off-road vehicles or station wagon models from car manufacturers, which are characterized by sufficient space and driving performance. The many different car models that are theoretically suitable for conversion into command vehicles have one thing in common: thanks to their smaller size, better handling characteristics and top speed, they can arrive at the scene of an emergency faster than the heavier and larger command vehicles.
