As the content and scope of the order in this area depends on the respective customer, the field of application of the vehicles and therefore the approach of the service provider can vary greatly. In addition to sound technical knowledge, an inventive spirit is therefore required above all when it comes to aspects such as system integration.
Special vehicle construction: vehicle types and challenges
The challenge of special vehicle construction is to find individual solutions for different requirements. Unrestricted functionality, mobility and flexibility must be guaranteed at all times. This category includes, for example, the planning and construction of command vehicles, command vehicles and other special vehicles for the military, police, fire department or other authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS).
Cooperation between the client and the company is also essential for satisfactory order processing in special vehicle construction. The enormous quality standards that have to be met in the construction of special vehicles are a basic prerequisite for successful work in view of the areas of application mentioned, for example with regard to vehicle technology or broadcasting solutions. With today's technical possibilities (see the CAD process), reverse engineering is becoming increasingly important in modern special vehicle construction.
Constant training with regard to innovative strategies and technologies also plays a major role. In the case of vehicles, for example, the demand for electric motors capable of covering long distances is increasing. Electrification in special vehicle construction is also progressing - here, the conversion of a vehicle designed for a combustion engine to a battery-powered platform with an electric motor has been particularly challenging to date. If electric vehicles continue to spread in the coming years as predicted, vehicles that were designed for electric operation from the outset will also become usable in special vehicle construction in the foreseeable future. This could once again significantly expand the options available to suppliers.
