Special vehicles that claim certain special rights under road traffic regulations in accordance with Section 35 (6) must be fitted with a specific DIN-standardized warning marking. This is the warning marking according to DIN 30710, which refers to motor vehicle warning markings.
This standard requires that the warning markings must consist of red and white stripes, which must have a certain composition and be applied in a certain way. In many cases in practice, the warning markings do not comply with DIN 30710, which not only affects vehicles of waste disposal companies or security services, for example, but often even official vehicles.
For example, the vehicle warning markings for special vehicles must not only have a specified number and width of red and white stripes, they must also be aligned in very specific directions and form an A (pointing upwards) when viewed from a distance, and not a V (pointing downwards) as is often the case with warning markings. The reflective value of the reflective foil is also specified. The color scheme is limited to red and white. The orange and white from the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the widespread red and yellow, are not permitted as warning markings for the use of special rights in accordance with DIN 30710.
