Maintenance is an important part of the maintenance cycle for power generators. Power generators are very important in special vehicles as an additional power supply. They can be used, for example, to operate a special signaling system, radio equipment or mobile workstations including various devices with the engine independently of the vehicle's actual power circuit. Often 230V/400V generators are used for this purpose, which are installed in the respective vehicle as mobile units. Depending on the specific application, large, powerful external power generators can also be used, which are mounted and transported on special chassis.
As generators in special vehicles are generally used intensively and therefore quickly reach a high mileage, they should be checked regularly. The scheduled intervals for work on vehicles or for checking vehicle parts, known as scheduled work, are precisely defined in the Bundeswehr. Power generator repairs can also be carried out as part of work on the rest of the vehicle.
