When looking at the apron of an airport, the first thing that catches the eye are the many different special vehicles that are used to supply aircraft, passengers and cargo, such as the airport's baggage trolleys. All of these airport vehicles, both for passenger transportation and at the cargo airport, are adapted in their construction and design to the respective function that they have to fulfil in take-off and landing operations. Such airport vehicles are special vehicles that are not required frequently and are therefore only produced in very small quantities. Airport baggage trolleys and cargo airport trolleys often have to be adapted not only to the dimensions and shapes of the aircraft, but also to the spatial and structural conditions of the respective airport. The planning and construction of airport vehicles is therefore a very individual and usually strictly limited matter.
Special vehicle manufacturers such as Norrenrock-Technik receive corresponding orders from airport operators to either design and build new airport vehicles from scratch or to convert and modify existing special vehicles to meet requirements.
