The cable winch is an important piece of equipment for many special-purpose vehicles. The cable winch is fitted to many vehicles, especially in disaster control, fire departments and military operations, and is an important aid during operations or in the field. This is a powerful electric cable winch or a cable winch with a hydraulic or mechanical drive that works with sturdy wire or steel cables.
The usual pulling force of a cable winch for fire engines is 50 kN, with a cable length of 50 to 60 meters. In order for the cable winch to develop its full power, the fire fighting vehicle itself must be well secured, usually with wheel chocks or an all-wheel brake. The cable winch is usually controlled from the driver's cab.
Similar to fire engines, military vehicles can be rescued using a cable winch. It is also possible to rescue the vehicle independently or with assistance from a stuck position. A cable winch can also be used to help overcome steep inclines.
