Police tank

Police armored vehicles are armored vehicles that are specially equipped for police use. One of the tasks of police armored vehicles is to transport police officers safely to the scene of an operation against aggressive troublemakers. The police armored vehicle is also used to protect or rescue people in danger. In addition, the police armored personnel carriers, also known as police armored personnel carriers, are used to find and pick up people in contaminated, poisoned or radiating areas, as well as to help recover dangerous, for example explosive substances. Situations in which they are deployed include amok attacks, riots at demonstrations, street fights and escalating gang wars.

Police armored vehicles have light armor. Equipment such as a machine gun and dozer blades can be installed if required. Depending on the model, up to eleven police officers can be accommodated in the armored vehicle. Inside the armored police vehicle, the crew can then operate the dozer blades and firearms, throw irritants and smoke grenades and install a protective covering for the Plexiglas windows.

To protect against NBC attacks or threats, an overpressure can be generated inside the armored police vehicle to prevent the ingress of dangerous gases. This means that the armored vehicle can also be used by the police and civil protection services as an evacuation vehicle.

The Federal Police's latest armored police vehicle is the so-called "Survivor R" (as of 2023), the basic version of which costs around 1.3 million euros net. The machine gun of this police armored vehicle is remote-controlled. As a police armored personnel carrier, it can travel at around 100 kilometers per hour. Together with two water cannons, a police armored vehicle forms a so-called water cannon squadron.
