Risk assessment is an essential measure in the context of occupational health and safety. This is clearly formulated in Sections 5 and 6 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG) and is therefore binding for companies to implement. In the risk assessment process, potential hazards that may arise during the performance of a professional activity are to be identified and evaluated. The workplaces and workstations, work processes, working hours as well as production and work processes are relevant for this. The safety and health of all employees working in a company should be ensured through the appropriate identification of hazards and dangers.
The situation with special vehicles for the military or the public sector
Section 5 of the ArbSchG describes a catalog with a large number of possible hazards that can arise in everyday working life. In the area of special vehicle construction for the military or the public sector, a hazard may arise, for example, from inadequate instruction or qualification of the responsible personnel. Appropriate training and initial instruction by the manufacturer of special-purpose vehicles should therefore be conscientiously utilized. Compliance with specified test cycles is also mandatory in order to rule out hazards when handling the technology used. An essential service provided by the manufacturer is technical-logistical support (TLB), which also includes the documentation and clear designation of protective measures based on identified hazards.
Work areas in which special vehicles are used, such as the military, often require the mental integrity of the employee. According to the risk assessment, the work organization or management methods should be within an appropriate framework so that mental stress resulting from an activity is avoided.
