Vehicle fleet

By definition, the term "vehicle fleet" refers to those cars and vehicles that belong to an (auxiliary) organization, military unit, authority or company. Depending on the focus, the vehicle fleet can contain a different number of special vehicles - even in companies, for example, when cars with vehicle armor are used.

Vehicle fleet: Definition for military, BOS & Co.

The definition of special vehicles for use in vehicle fleets is often based on various DIN guidelines. This is particularly often the case with vehicles that are used in the fleets of authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS). These fleets, as well as those of the military, usually include a large number of special vehicles that are individually adapted to the requirements of the institution or company and equipped with appropriate equipment and vehicle superstructures. For example, fire department command vehicles are equipped with breathing masks and radios for coordinating operations. Ambulances, on the other hand, usually have a special box body for patient care.

Military vehicles can have a wide range of equipment and superstructures, from the mobile communication technology required for regulated radio communication to weapons systems and computer workstations. It is important that electromagnetic compatibility is guaranteed at all times. Special attention is therefore paid to this as early as the planning phase for special vehicles.

The German Federal Agency for Technical Relief and the police also use special vehicles in their fleets. For example, both use various converted cars for use in dangerous situations. The THW also has specially converted trucks for rescue operations in the event of a disaster.
