Chassis technology


The chassis technology of special vehicles is relevant for both performance and safety. Chassis technology comprises various components that influence road holding, maximum driving performance and comfort. Accordingly, the standard chassis technology of cars or trucks often has to be modified or completely replaced in order to withstand the loads. This is particularly the case when it comes to vehicles with special functions and areas of application. Off-road vehicles, such as those built for the military, require more ground clearance and a suspension that functions reliably even in difficult terrain. Armored vehicles with ballistic protection are in turn significantly heavier than conventional vehicles, which also requires adjustments to the chassis technology. For example, particularly stable rigid axles can be used, which can support the higher weight of the vehicle armor.

In addition to functionality, it is important for vehicle technology in special vehicles to always pay attention to the reliability and safety of the design. Particularly in special vehicle construction for the military, the focus should also be on ensuring that defective components can be easily repaired or replaced in order to minimize downtimes.
