Spare parts gap

A spare parts shortage can jeopardize the operational capability and roadworthiness of older military and civilian vehicles in particular. If, for example, a component that was specially manufactured for a vehicle is no longer available or only available to a very limited extent, this often leads to long waiting or repair times. This is a situation that satisfies no one, which is why a solution has been in place for some time that seeks to prevent longer downtimes due to unavailable parts.

This literal spare parts gap is to be closed by the reverse engineering process. Reverse engineering involves creating a virtual 3D model of the required component, which can then be processed, checked and prepared for production using CAD in an appropriate program. This also includes the preparation of irregular or imperfect contours. Complex surfaces and structures are also mapped very precisely in this way.

The 3D scan captures all design-relevant features - allowing digital copies of components to be made that can be produced in the real world in the same or even better quality and used accordingly. This effectively prevents the spare parts gap. This shortens the waiting time, particularly for military applications where parts procurement can be lengthy and complicated. As a specialist company for special vehicles, Norrenbrock Technik naturally also installs the required part as part of the system integration.
