DIN EN ISO 9241 deals with all areas of work that have to do with the ergonomics of human-system interaction. This includes the design of VDU workstations, including the requirements for keyboards, visual displays and posture. The introduction of this internationally valid standard also aimed to replace earlier standards that limited the subject area covered to activities in fixed offices (e.g. DIN 66234).
DIN EN ISO 9241 also plays an important role in special vehicle construction, for example for the military or the public sector. The design of mobile workstations, such as command vehicles or specialized container solutions, is carried out in accordance with these requirements so that comfortable and efficient working is guaranteed at all times. For example, modern IT components are integrated into control desks to ensure that special vehicles become fully functional workstations.
DIN EN ISO 9241 creates and specifies generally applicable requirements for the working environment and the hardware and software used. This is intended to minimize or completely prevent health hazards that can occur in connection with working at a VDU and to facilitate the performance of the activity.
