BOS and Bundeswehr: Containers provide mobile infrastructures

Whether for the public sector or the German Armed Forces, containers are used in a variety of ways and are not just used to transport goods. As modular buildings, they can be used to quickly and flexibly create the infrastructure needed in crisis areas, for example. Containers can be used to create accommodation for troops, storage rooms and larger building complexes, for example in the form of fully functional hospitals. The advantage of such a container solution is that buildings are prefabricated in the factory and can therefore be used immediately after delivery, regardless of weather conditions.

As part of system integration, containers can be equipped with different technical solutions. In practice, they are used individually or as part of a larger unit. For the German Armed Forces, for example, containers are equipped with communication or telecommunications technology and are fitted with EMC shielding to protect the technical systems. Air conditioning technologies also ensure a pleasant working atmosphere and protect the internal systems from overheating damage. Furthermore, containers can be self-sufficiently supplied with electricity thanks to an integrated energy source. In addition to the military, containers are also used by public authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS) as mobile offices and other workplaces, such as passenger or baggage control.

Overall, container solutions are characterized by their high modularity and flexibility in the provision of important infrastructure. The essential services in container construction also include the provision of suitable transportation solutions as well as instruction in the technical specifications and operation of the systems.
